Why you should check your voter registration NOW!

So, the election is just a few weeks away – and hey, maybe you skipped the primaries (especially in Mass., where there weren’t many interesting ones), and in 2006, you voted. But *this* year, you’ll be there! And since you moved 20 months ago, your city or town knows where you are, right? That’s what I assumed, anyway… having moved within the city of Boston more than a year-and-a-half ago.

But on a lark, I went to the city of Boston website, checked my voter registration, and lo and behold – I was registered… at the wrong address.

It’s easy enough to fix, but not on Election Day, when showing up at the wrong polling place (or the right place, at the wrong time), can really ruin your day (not to mention make it pretty tough to VOTE!)

So, simple advice. RUN, don’t walk, to your city or town website and check your status. (Or go to town hall if you have to…) The vote you save could be your own.

And if you need another resource for voting information, Google has launched a Maps mashup with voter information (apparently polling locations will be added later this month). Put in your address, and voila!

And they did a funny video to go with it.
